Introduction
The NextBillion.ai Android Offline Maps SDK lets applications download map data for supported regions and use it with the standard MapView when network connectivity is unavailable. This guide explains how to initialize offline map support, retrieve and download regions, monitor download status, manage installed data, handle updates and errors, and prepare the integration for production.
Prerequisites
Before integrating Android Offline Maps, make sure you have:
- NextBillion.ai Maps SDK for Android 3.2.0 or later. Earlier versions do not include the offline map download and management APIs.
- Android API level 23 or later, matching the current Maps SDK requirements.
- A valid NextBillion.ai API key configured in the application.
- App-specific storage available for downloaded map data. Offline map data is stored in the app’s resource directory and does not require shared-storage permission.
